Julie brings more than twenty years of working with nonprofits to the team at MAYES | WILSON & ASSOCIATES. 


Julie Whelan Capell, M.S., C.P.H. - A professional grant writer for nonprofits since 1986, Julie has written hundreds of grant proposals to small, local foundations as well as large national foundations. She's written United Way proposals and many specialized proposals including city, county, state and federal proposals. An experienced strategic planner. Julie can put together fund development plans aligned with your strategic goals and she is an expert at the creation of logic models. Julie has created the copy for countless websites, newsletters, annual reports, brochures and social media posts for nonprofits to tell their stories to the public. Julie asks the right questions and listens carefully to the answers in order to craft unique written products that will win both friends and funds for her clients.


Julie has degrees in English and Spanish as a Second Language and is currently translating a book form Spanish to English. She is passionate about helping people in their fifties prepare for retirement and is the co-host of the Seniortopia podcast.


A well-known geek, you may have seen Julie as the emcee of the GenCon Costume Contest or in costume with her husband and friends at Star Wars film openings. Her life mantra is explore, look ahead, and never stop learning.
