Mayes Wilson & Associates

Looking to the Future–with a Twist

Sara Wilson, ACC, CPCC|

At the beginning of the year I typically write about looking forward toward the future and backward to reflect on the past. I’m doing it again with a twist of focusing on MAYES | WILSON & ASSOCIATES.

Looking at the past, I’ve led MAYES | WILSON ASSOCIATES for 25 years(!); the last thirteen as the Principal Consultant and Coach. I’ve worked with great people–staff, executives, and boards of directors–across the US and internationally. It has been an honor to be trusted with individuals’ and organizations’ biggest challenges and provide solutions that have impact. I’ve been fortunate to have excellent Associates who’ve brought different skills and perspectives to projects. I actually love what I do; Consulting and Coaching are directly connected to with my life purpose of helping others be successful and making the world a better place.

The future is always uncertain, but it feels especially so now with rapid technological changes, severe weather events, the impacts of climate change and the changing political landscape. In today’s fast-paced, demanding world, I’ve determined the most important service I can provide going forward is to focus the majority of my work on coaching executives, emerging leaders and individuals at the intersection of transitions.

With my shift in focus to Coaching, it is time let The Ripple Effect blog exist as a compilation of knowledge and evergreen resources. You can find past issues at The Ripple Effect and all of our resource articles here. Bookmark these pages for inspiration and answers to your questions about leadership, boards of directors, strategic planning, organizational development, team building, fund development, and evaluation. Perhaps the future holds a Coaching blog, we’ll see how/if that unfolds.

“Which of us has not had that wonderfully seditious idea: to play hooky for a while from life as we know it?”

(Pico Iyer in The Year of the Hare)

While I’m not exactly going to be playing hooky, this shift to “Focus: Coaching” feels like I’m walking into a wonderful, beckoning current that’s lapping at my feet. Now it’s time to jump in. I’m looking forward to working from anywhere and while in those anywhere locations I’ll be doing more: traveling, seeing art and experiencing cultures, swimming, teaching aqua fitness and of course, Coaching.

It’s great working with you. I am so fortunate to work with smart, creative, mission-focused people. I love what I do. I’m ready to be Your Coach. Let’s “Be More!” Here’s to the Future!
